SHERPA has a longstanding tradition of developing training programs designed to support professionals in the health, social services, and community sectors. In the early 2000s, the METISS team, led by Janine Hohl, Fasal Kanouté, and Spyridoula Xenocostas, developed the first basic intercultural training courses. These programs were created to equip health and social services practitioners with the skills and knowledge needed to work effectively with immigrant, refugee, and immigrant-origin clients.
Building on this foundation, the SHERPA University Institute continues to offer a range of training programs, both online and in person, to healthcare and social services professionals, as well as supervisory staff, in Quebec and beyond.
