Abstract

As part of the government’s Caregiver Action Plan (2021-2026), the SHERPA University Institut of the CIUSSS West-Central, in collaboration with SASLACE, conducted a research project to document the realities and needs of caregivers belonging to ethnocultural minority and English-speaking groups (PAGEMA caregivers), with a particular focus on their conception of their role, their expectations, and the obstacles and facilitating factors affecting their use of resources and services.

This study is one of the first to document the reality of informal caregiving among these groups, despite their large numbers and the complex challenges they face.

In order to synthesize and disseminate the main findings of the research project, four thematic fact sheets and a research summary have been produced. These sheets are awareness-raising tools for people working with caregivers, and present the main findings of the study as well as considerations for practice and the development of services for caregivers.

Developped topics :

  •  Gender-Based Analysis Plus’ perspective on caregiving
  • Facilitators and obstacles to accessing and using services
  • Support trajectories for PAGEMA caregivers
  • Informal caregiving within the English-speaking population of Quebec: portrait and needs
