Appointment of Christine Gervais as the new Scientific DirectorWe are delighted to announce the appointment of Christine Gervais as the new Scientific Director of the SHERPA University Institute! Christine Gervais is a nurse with a PhD in psychology and a full professor in the Department of Nursing at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO). She is widely recognized for her commitment to family health, particularly among families with a migration background. Her research focuses on the well-being of children and families, as well as the development and evaluation of interventions and programs to better support them. She is also the co-director of the Tout un village research lab, which aims to foster youth development through life’s various transitions, including migration. Christine promotes participatory approaches that place children and their families at the center of the process. She collaborates closely with community organizations, as well as health and social service providers, to develop projects grounded in real-world needs. An active member of the SHERPA University Institute since 2019, Christine serves on the scientific committee and co-leads the thematic committee on family, parenting, and perinatality. She has made significant contributions to advancing knowledge in the area of immigrant men and fathers, especially in adapting services to better meet their needs. To ensure a smooth transition, Jill Hanley, our current Scientific Director, will share leadership responsibilities with Christine for one year.!
